So I thought that it was great that my kids were off this week for fall break. It was the perfect opportunity to get caught up on some much needed house cleaning and have them help me with odds and ins. We did great. We got everything done and my house is so clean and smells so good. Whew! I was relaxing in the chair patting myself on the back when I realized...Crap I forgot about doing the laundry! So my house is clean, but now I have a big pile of laundry to fold!
Why is it when we always think we are ahead of the game and on top of things we turn around and realize we are still behind? Do we ever catch up? Will there ever be time left over in a day when we literally have nothing to do?
It cracks me up to think about my husband coming home from work and relaxing in the chair while I am scrambling around still trying to get things done. Why is it he gets to clock out and get time off and my job is never done? Makes me think about that new show "Sister Wives" heck I want the wives, but not the man! LOL! I would love for someone else to share in the housework and know what needs to be done without asking and actually doing the work!
I think that my children and my husband think that there is a little fairy that comes in and cleans the clothes, the dishes, the house. Picks everything up for them and cooks them a great meal. They are oblivious to what I do, obviously! Apparently they think that I don't do anything since the question of the day is always "What did you do all day?" I mean really...What do you think I did all day? Why is it that we as wives and mothers get asked that question? One day wouldn't it be great to take a sick day or even a day off. Heck even to get paid for the job we do! Wouldn't it be great one day for them to come home and see what we don't do. Have the laundry strung all over...dirty socks on the couch, underwear on the floor, shoes in front of the door so you break your leg walking in, wet towels on the bathroom floor, clothes laying by the hamper but of course not in the hamper, dirty dishes left in random places all through the house with half glasses of milk left out all day, trash cans running over, kids running through the house with scissors and knives dressed in mommys make up, heels and bra with chocolate faces and clothes covered in dirt from making mud pies and playing in the toilet, and me sitting in the chair relaxing watching Oprah and painting my nails sipping on wine....Then asking my husband sarcasticly "What did you do all day?"
